The $1,000 Scale

You can find the message I sent to my lists today.

I post it here as an example of a killer affiliate promotion. (You may also get the advantage of the bonus offered until July 29, 2010)

The facts:

- I am going to pay from $1,000 to $3,000 for delivering 1 to 3 new, unique and created from scratch 50-page ebooks.
- The number of the ebooks to be offered as bonus is depended on the result of the promotion, thus 1 is the minimum number and 3 is the maximum number.
- Joel’s book costs $16.47 at Amazon

As you can see I use a bribe of a $1,000 – $3,000 REAL COST for “making” people to buy a book that costs less than $20.

You may argue this is a crazy offer.

I say it’s a killer affiliate promotion.

Or better:

It’s an affiliate promotion I’d like to see implemented by my affiliates too for my products…

It’s what “I want to get” action and also a lesson: Always walk an extra mile when promoting something.

By doing so and no matter what the results will be:

- You get the attention of the JV Partner that appreciates your efforts much. There is no better way to initiate JV Partnerships by GIVING the best of you FIRST. You may also read my article here “Remember Kennedy?”

- You give ULTRA VALUE to your people through an IRRESISTIBLE offer, as Mark Joyner would suggest. Wouldn’t you buy Joel’s book for $16.24 for getting a bonus worth of $1,000. It’s a no-brainer, right? And you will indeed remember me for this.

- You are becoming a considerable power house in the affiliate competitions, since people will be waiting for your bonus before buying anything.

If you are thinking:

“Should I invest $1,000 and more for offering a bonus??”

…then you’re proving that you follow the WRONG mentality here for 2 reasons – at least.

I have seen prizes of even $10,000. Can you reach the top 10 affiliates’ leaderboard without walking an extra mile? NO. This is the point.

In all cases, an investment of $1,000 should never be considered as a flat amount of $1,000.

Allow me to explain:

The RIGHT MENTALITY you may follow is something I call as “The $1,000 SCALE“:

$1,000 SHOULD BE IN YOUR MIND equal to

- 2 sales of $500
- 4 sales of $250
- 8 sales of $125
- 16 sales of $62.50
- 32 sales of $31.25
- 64 sales of $15.62
- 128 sales of $7.80″

Once you have that scale in your mind, then all you need to ask yourself is how many sales can you generate. That’s all. If you CAN generate 128 sales, then you should not need a second thought for that $1,000 investment. Same if you can generate say 64 or 32 sales.

The AMOUNT of sales you can generate IS NOT depended on the NUMBER of your subscribers, but instead on the QUALITY of your lists.

If you have a list full of freebie seekers chances are you MAY sell a product that costs LESS than $100 and for that reason you need MANY subscribers indeed.

BUT… (and here is how Joel’s “KaChing” book comes up to fore:) if you have spent your time online wisely… if you have created a list of potential and serious BUYERS then the number of sales you can generate is depended on how well you have structured your online business so far. For example, if you have been acting as an affiliate of products less than $50 you cannot suddenly suggest to your lists a product that costs $1,000 – you may be flamed for that. BUT you can indeed suggest an offer of $47 and in that case you ONLY NEED LESS THAN 32 sales for utilizing the “$1000 SCALE” above.

The “$1,000 SCALE” can indeed tell you how confident you feel for selling an item and you need to listen to that answer for calibrating your efforts online too. The “$1,000 SCALE” can then be the decisive factor to your question: “Can I afford the investment?”

The answer to that question is ALSO the answer to

“Can I promote this product and outsell super affiliates?”

BECAUSE….

IF YOU CAN easily SELL the product you are going to create for offering it as a bonus through an affiliate promotion, then you CAN get your money back FAST even if you make 0 affiliate sales!
